STRAIGHT AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC SCREWDRIVER WITH TORQUE/ANGLE CONTROL BY BUILT-IN TRANSDUCER AND ENCODER AND SCREW FEEDING – FORWARD BIT STROKE
To work with precision, reliability and great ergonomics. Designed and built entirely by Fiam in Italy.
- Eliminates the manual steps of screw pick and place on the bit/piece
- Ensures the continuous supply of screws which are «shot» automatically
- Reduces tightening times (–35%)
- Interconnects with the factory system (INDUSTRY 4.0)
- Ensures less operator fatigue
- Short Pay Back: 98 days on a production of 2.000 pieces per day
- Turnkey system
- Guaranteed operation: strict internal pre-delivery tests
TIGHTENING DEVICE WITH FORWARD BIT STROKE – PATENTED
- Reduces operator fatigue
- Keeps the screw tip always visible and does not allow it to move back
- During tightening, the screwdriver head does not rest on the surfaces, protecting them from any contact
ELECTRIC TECHNOLOGY
E-MCB brushless electric nutrunner motor with torque/angle current control with integrated transducer and encoder, designed and built entirely by Fiam in Italy for automatic use on machines and for the needs of Industry 4.0.
With modular construction for safe maintenance management. Built-in electronics. Specifically for use in industrial automation.
To be combined with E‑TCS control unit, which powers and controls all functions of the connected E MCB electric tightening tool, enabling advanced programming and accurate control of every phase of the tightening process, with real-time visualization on the color Touch Screen panel.
-
CONTROL UNIT E-TCS
- Complete visualization of the tightening process also with graphics
- Instant display of TORQUE/ANGLE/TIME of tightening
- Poka‑yoke programming directly on the color touch screen
- 100 configurable Jobs, recallable from operator
- 100 configurable Tasks for each Job
- 12 configurable Steps for each Task
- Screw counting
- For each screw: programming of the maximum number of re‑tightening attempts in case of NOK screw
- Configurable loosening speed and direction
- Speed reduction during tightening with configurable final torque/speed values (downshift)
- I/O connector: 8 inputs / 8 outputs, freely programmable
- Tightening logs exportable via Fieldbus (e.g. PROFINET – MODBUS TCP/I – ETHERNET /IP)
- Data storable on SD‑card, and therefore exportable (capacity of over 1 million tightenings)
5 TYPES OF COMBINABLE SCREW FEEDERS
- ED B: Ø Bowl 240 mm, for screws L (mm) 10÷35
- ED B 1|1: Ø Bowl 240 mm, for screws L (mm) 10÷35, with increased FRL group
- ED B M 1|1: Ø Bowl 420 mm, for screws L (mm) 35÷60, for large screws and greater working autonomy
- ED B 2|1: 2 Ø Bowls240 mm, for screws L (mm) 10÷35, to feed 2 types of screws with 1 screwdriver
- ED S – Silent Feeder: segment conveyor, for screws L max (mm) 25 – Tank with 2 litres capacity
-
MECHANICAL FEATURES OF SCREW FEEDERS
- Over-load sensor: to ensure keeping the correct quantity of screws on linear rail
- Screws selector: allows production increase for the “screw shot” inside a closed chamber
- Pneumo-electric device: equipped with Festo components
- Low level sensor: indicates when the bowl needs screw reloading
- Analogic line pressure switch: controls the incoming air pressure for the correct operation of different screw feeder functions and of the pneumatic tightening devices
- Structure in stainless steel: with transparent cover and lateral panels that can be dismantled for maintenance activity
- Filter, pressure regulator and lubricator with gauge already integrated in the machine
- Tube carring hoses and cables: 5 m
ED S – Silent Feeder model: with screw feeding system via segment conveyor that loads, aligns and sends the screws to an inclined rail
-
INTERCONNECTIVITY FOR INDUSTRY 4.0
-
- Integrated PLC to set and manage the tightening cycle basing on the specific application using the functional external keypad (PLC -portable and remotely manageable, for the ED S model)
-
- It connects to the several devices on the production line: conveyor belt, barcode readers, workpiece clamping jig, signalling and monitoring mechanisms such as LEDs, part counters, light towers.etc.
-
- EDMI (EasyDriver Machine Interface) is a Web Server interface integrated into the screw feeder. It allows remote connection to the tightening unit via PC, smartphone or tablet. It allows:
-
- to conveniently access the main PLC functions of the machine, without having to interact manually

- EDMI (EasyDriver Machine Interface) is a Web Server interface integrated into the screw feeder. It allows remote connection to the tightening unit via PC, smartphone or tablet. It allows:
-
- Diagnostic messages: diagnostics, suggestions as to possible main causes of inefficiency, real-time monitoring of the signal generating the issue, colour display to mirror machine status
-
- Modbus serial communication protocol via ethernet RJ45 relating to the Factory system
-
- Testing mode: allows the machine to perform free running tightening cycles for setting, installing and monitoring the machine
-
- Data log: at each tightening cycle or in case of anomaly, the main tightening data are stored and can be easily copied from the SD memory card present in the PLC to a PC
-
SCREW-RETAINING HEADS
- Always customized on the screw and the component to reach any depth
- Reduced dimensions, also made with special materials/supports to avoid damaging the components, screw tip always clearly visible
- Excellent screw hold with mechanical retention and not by suction (no jamming in case of dust)
APPLICATIONS
For large series of identical screws – High production rates in any production sector. The ergonomic straight grip is ideal for tightening points on horizontal planes.
To improve the operating layout and reduce physical fatigue, all straight CA automatic screwdrivers are supplied with a clamping collar included, allowing installation of the tool on a Fiam reaction arm, type BC or BCA, on the upper side for better visibility of the tightening point and an optimal operator hand-arm position.
The collar is supplied to match the motor diameter (for Ø 32 code 692039246, for Ø 36 code 692039247, for Ø 42.5 code 692039263).
