Fiam has recently set up for an important customer in Northern Italy, which manufactures components for the hydro-thermal sanitary field, an assembly line made of 20 workstations. Into each station an operator carries out the assembly of components using 15C air screwdrivers with automatic air shut-off and double air signal pick-up. The screwdrivers, installed on telescoping carbon fiber reaction arms, are connected to the TOM monitoring unit, Fiam practical and inexpensive Poka Yoke device. TOM allows mistakes prevention, by identifying the incorrect positioning or missing screws and communicating in real time the outcomes of assembly operations. It is in fact more and more necessary to improve parts assembly phases in terms of productivity and especially quality as well as to ensure the elimination of wastes and high quality of the finished product.
